Welcome to Compass Place ("App"), operated by Fletcher Street Corporation ("we," "our," "us"). By using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Compass Place

Compass Place is a mobile application that helps families find senior living facilities for aging parents or loved ones. We provide:

  • Care needs assessments
  • Neutral, algorithm-based facility matching
  • Facility profiles with inspection data and local insights
  • Tour scheduling coordination via SMS (optional)
  • Decision support tools

Compass Place is free for families. We earn referral fees from facilities when you move your parent into a facility found through our App. These fees never influence our rankings.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the App.
  • You must provide accurate information during registration.
  • You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes related to finding senior living care.

3. User Accounts

  • You must provide a valid email address and phone number.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access.
  • We may disable or remove accounts that violate these Terms.

4. SMS Text Messages

Compass Place uses SMS in two ways: (A) required account verification and (B) optional tour and facility update messaging. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.

A. Account Verification (Required)

SMS is required to authenticate your account. When you enter your mobile phone number and request a verification code in the App, you authorize Compass Place to send you a one-time passcode (OTP) by SMS to verify your number and secure your account.

  • These messages are transactional and security-related (e.g., verification codes, account access).
  • Message frequency varies and depends on login and security activity.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Contact your wireless carrier for details.

B. Tour Scheduling & Facility Updates (Optional)

Optional SMS messaging helps you coordinate tours and receive updates about facilities you follow (for example, tour scheduling coordination and availability updates). This optional messaging is enabled only if you take an affirmative opt-in action in the App (an optional checkbox that is unchecked by default, or later in Settings).

  • Tour scheduling requests and confirmations
  • Facility responses to your inquiries
  • Tour reminders
  • Post-tour feedback requests
  • Important updates about facilities you’ve saved (such as availability updates)
  • Move-in check-ins and follow-ups

Message frequency varies based on your activity. During active tour scheduling, you may receive multiple messages per day.

Opting Out (STOP) and Help (HELP)

You may opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP to any message from Compass Place.

  • After you send STOP, we will send a confirmation and stop sending texts from that number.
  • Important: because SMS is required for account verification, opting out of SMS will prevent you from receiving verification codes and may prevent you from signing in until you opt back in.
  • You may opt back in by replying START or by contacting [email protected].

5. Tour Scheduling

When you request a tour through Compass Place, we coordinate scheduling between you and the facility. If you have enabled optional SMS tour messaging, we may communicate scheduling details by SMS; otherwise, we may use in-app and/or push notifications where available:

  • We may send an SMS to the facility's designated contact person on your behalf
  • The facility responds with available times
  • We relay their response to you via your enabled channels (SMS if enabled, and/or push notification)
  • You confirm your preferred time
  • Both you and the facility receive confirmation

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate contact information
  • Respond to scheduling messages in a timely manner
  • Cancel tours with reasonable notice if your plans change

6. Care Assessments and Recommendations

The care assessments and facility recommendations provided by Compass Place are:

  • Based on the information you provide about your parent's needs
  • Generated by our matching algorithm, not by medical professionals
  • Intended as decision support, not medical advice

You should consult with healthcare providers for medical decisions about your parent's care needs.

7. Facility Information

We strive to provide accurate facility information, including care levels and specialties, pricing ranges, state inspection summaries, and local expert insights. However:

  • Facility information may change without notice
  • Pricing is approximate and should be confirmed directly with facilities
  • Inspection data is sourced from public records and may not reflect recent changes
  • You should verify all information directly with facilities before making decisions

8. Referral Fees and Neutrality

Compass Place earns referral fees from facilities when a user's parent moves in. We are committed to transparency:

  • Facilities cannot pay for better rankings. Our matching algorithm ranks facilities based on fit, not payment.
  • Referral fees are disclosed. When you select a facility, we inform you that we may receive a fee.
  • Your data is never sold. We do not sell your information to facilities or third parties.

9. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Provide false information about yourself, your parent, or loved one
  • Use the App for any purpose other than finding senior living care
  • Attempt to access data of other users
  • Interfere with or reverse-engineer the App
  • Use the App for advertising or commercial purposes without permission
  • Harass facilities or other users
  • Submit reviews or ratings that contain objectionable, false, or misleading content

10. User Generated Content

Compass Place allows users to submit facility reviews, ratings, and feedback ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you agree to the following:

Content Standards. Your User Content must not contain:

  • Offensive, abusive, discriminatory, or hateful language
  • False or deliberately misleading information about facilities, staff, or residents
  • Spam, promotional content, or solicitations
  • Threats of violence or harassment
  • Personal information about other individuals without their consent
  • Content that violates any applicable law

Moderation. All User Content is subject to review and moderation by Compass Place. We reserve the right to review, edit, remove, or restrict any User Content at any time without prior notice. Content that violates these standards will be removed, and users who repeatedly violate these standards may have their review privileges suspended or their accounts terminated.

Reporting. If you encounter User Content that you believe violates these standards, you may report it using the in-app Report feature. We are committed to reviewing all reports within 24 hours.

Blocking. You may block individual reviewers through the in-app Report feature. Blocked reviewers' content will no longer be visible to you.

License. By submitting User Content, you grant Compass Place a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute your content within the App for the purpose of helping other families make informed decisions about senior living.

11. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the App are owned by Fletcher Street Corporation and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the App without our permission.

12. Disclaimer

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

We do not guarantee the accuracy of facility information, availability of tours or facility beds, the quality of care at any facility, or that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Compass Place is a decision support tool, not a substitute for your own research and judgment.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fletcher Street Corporation is not liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or goodwill
  • Any damages arising from your use of the App or reliance on facility information
  • Any issues with facilities you visit or select through the App

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Fletcher Street Corporation from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

15. Termination

  • We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms.
  • You may delete your account at any time through the App or by contacting support.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the App ends immediately.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and will notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without regard to conflict of law principles.

18. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Hamilton County, Indiana, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court.
