Local Family Perspective

Tell Your Story

Share your story about navigating senior living in Hamilton County, Indiana or Franklin County, Ohio.

We collect family stories and lived experience from local senior communities. Tours can be helpful, but they do not always show how communication feels over time, how a team responds when concerns arise, or whether care is carried out with compassion and dignity.

Why Stories Matter

What families learn over time can be hard to see on a tour

Senior care is not a perfect science. Needs change. Situations become complicated. Some moments are routine. Others are difficult, emotional, or urgent.

What often shapes a family’s view of a community is not whether every experience was flawless, but how the team responded when something important happened. Did they listen? Did they communicate clearly? Did they try to make things right? Did they handle the situation with compassion, dignity, and sincerity?

Positive stories matter too. Sometimes the best signs of a strong community only become clear after move-in, and only if someone is willing to share what they saw.

Starting Small

We collect local family stories - good, bad and in between

This is an exciting effort focused on active Compass Place areas. Over time, family stories may help reveal patterns that are not always visible during a tour, including communication style, warmth, follow-through, responsiveness, and day-to-day experience.

We do not publish family names or resident names. We are listening, learning, and building a more grounded picture of local communities.

Helpful Storytelling

What kinds of stories are most helpful

You do not need to write a formal review. Honest, specific stories are more useful than ratings.

A moment that shaped your view

Was there a specific moment that changed how you felt about the community, positively or negatively?

How the team responded

If a concern came up, did they take it seriously, communicate clearly, and try to resolve it?

How your loved one was treated

Did the care feel respectful, warm, and dignified day to day?

What another family should ask

What would you want another family to understand before choosing this community?

These are prompts, not ratings. We are looking for thoughtful family perspective, including both positive experiences and hard-earned lessons.
